Rendered as a realtime, interactive environment with embedded, interpretive text for many of the objects in the space, the Basilica of St. Francis can now be experienced like never before. - The Virtual Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi utilizes state-of-the-art software to create a 3-D, real time (3DRT) model of the Basilica
- The model consists of over 4,000 high-resolution images that embed 175 multimedia hot spots that access a text database explaining the art and theology of the upper church
- The 35,000 word text base is supplemented by an introduction and three architectural schemas that graphically lay out the iconography
- A detailed biographical chronology of Francis and an extensive bibliography of the Basilica are also provided
